Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. The couple moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five and enrolled in an academy called the Dragon School. Emma was aspired to be a professional actress when she was just at the age of six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school that offers part-time classes. She had already performed in a variety of Stagecoach and school productions when she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 adaption to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight consecutive auditions. Emma's debut on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. This film was 2001's highest grossing film, breaking records during the opening day and first weekend. The film received praise from reviewers, and so were the performances of its three young starlets. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance.
